This excavated two-basement site had been abandoned for five years before being rezoned. ALJ was engaged by the buying developer to engineer a conversion of the site into a suitable 3000 m2 mixed-use area with four basements and 12 stories of residential apartments. ALJ provided a bold engineering solution to remediate the defective shoring walls and extend the piles two basements down to achieve four basements without losing any of the site's footprint.
